From C. Baron Photography:
This couple sure knows how to mix the elegance of a wedding with the feel of Texas. We loved shooting Madalyn & Mitchell’s wedding, not only were the decorations abundant and in the purples that we love – the couple themselves couldn’t stop smiling. It was contagious!
Q and A: Madalyn-Mitchell Wedding-Big Sky Barn
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
We wanted to keep the rustic feel of the venue but wanted to elevate it with the decorations and florals. I work in agriculture so it was important to me to keep it looking natural yet beautiful!
Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
I wanted lots of golds – with the gorgeous chandeliers at Big Sky Barn, I wanted the golds and purples to just pop when you walked into the space.
What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
Lots of greenery, purples and whites. She did an AMAZING job with the flower girls’ head pieces. I wanted to keep it simple and green and she just came up with the most adorable head-piece!
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
I had a live band and used decorations that were personal. I had my mother’s veil underneath the photo of their wedding day for example.
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
We have known each other our whole lives! We are the same age, from the same small town in southern Illinois, went to the same college, and our moms are dear friends. But, we never dated. After Mitchell graduated college, he got a job in Houston. My job started in Kentucky for almost a year of training then I accepted a sales district and moved to Austin.
In the meantime, Mitchell’s parents were moving down to Houston from our hometown. My mom begged them to bring down my desk and dresser in their semi that they were using to move. They gladly agreed. So, I came over to Houston one weekend to get my desk and dresser and Mitchell and I hit it off! He started consistently pursuing me and taking me on dates. The rest is history!
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
The beginning was hectic! I had a call from the transportation early on that they couldn’t find my out-of-town guests! I was freaking out but as soon as we started getting ready all those feeling were washed away. It was perfect.
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
To not stress the little things – it seems like everything is hectic but EVERYTHING works out fine in the end! You WILL get married either way!
