From Logan Roquemore Photography:
Luciana and Guillermo are both studying to become doctors and are in their final stages before beginning their residency’s. They are a beautiful young couple, so deeply in love and wanting to begin their future together as husband and wife as quickly as possible, so they invited their closest families and friends from near and far to join them at City Hall in New York City for a sweet and intimate ceremony.
Q and A with the couple: Luciana-Guillermo Wedding-New York City Hall
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Our wedding was chemistry-themed because we met in college and both were biochemistry majors/pre-med. Our invitations were very geeky with periodic table elements, a formula, etc. The Flower vases for the reception were also Erlenmeyer flasks. Our souvenirs were test tubes filled with Nerds candy. The color theme was light blue and white.
Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
We held our reception at il Fornetto Restaurant. The table linens and napkins were white (provided by the place). Our flower bases had light blue water and we had personalized light blue paper napkins on each plate.
What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
I had an all white rose bouquet and the groom had a white rose boutonniere. The Maid of Honor and Best Woman had corsages with small white roses. The centerpieces had roses, hydrangeas, and light blue spray-painted carnations (with light blue water). They were the main decoration of the tables.
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
We personalized all of the details: the test-tube souvenirs said “just married” Luciana & Guillermo, the wedding date M&Ms in our wedding colors for each guest said our names, the date, and had an Erlenmeyer flask figure, Photo props included a personalized Instagram frame.
Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
The Groom wore a navy suit with a white shirt, a light blue tie, black shoes. He purchased his suit at Macy’s and chose a similar style to his other suits (that he knew fit him nicely).
The Bride wore a white mermaid style dress that had a tail. The dress also had a bustle that folded the dress into itself picking up the tail. The dress was purchased at Estelle’s Dressy Dresses in Long Island.
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
We met volunteering at a premedical school fair at the City College of New York. We were also in the same Emergency Medical Service organization at City College and took the same physics class. We became friends and slowly fell for each other. He proposed on the ice skating rink at Prospect Park (mimicking one of our first dates) about 3 years after we began dating.
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
The first dance and the cake cutting ceremony.
