As soon as you drive down the long, tree-lined road leading to the elegant, colonial style Rust Manor House in Leesburg, VA, you’re transported to another time. That feeling of seclusion cocooned Julio and Liz’s guests into being fully present as they celebrated with the happy couple on their wedding day.
Julio and Liz met in high school, and after seven years of a strong, loving relationship, Julio decided it was time to pop the question! The proposal, as the wedding, was truly a family affair. The couple enjoyed a family lunch together before taking a walk to the water’s edge in Alexandria, VA, with a view of the Potomac River, where Julio dropped to one knee to propose to the love of his life.
A few months later they were welcoming guests to the elegant Rust Manor House in Leesburg. Liz spent the afternoon getting ready alongside her best friend and maid of honor, Jen. Once she was fully dressed and made up, she welcomed in her sister, mother, brother, and father for a group first-look that brought tears to all of their eyes! From there it was down the aisle to meet her handsome groom, waiting for her under the grand old oak tree. Liz was most excited to see Julio’s face as he caught his first glimpse of her in her wedding dress, and the look did not disappoint!
After their sweet ceremony, which included a unity candle and a hands ceremony, the newlyweds hosted guests on the manor house lawn for cocktail hour and yard games. Guests enjoyed super sized versions of Jenga and Connect Four, along with corn hole and giant bubble makers. There was even a caricaturist!
After dinner and magic hour portraits, Liz and Julio cut their wedding cake and invited guests to join in tasting all the sweets on the dessert table, including donuts, cupcakes, and cookies!
The couple ended the night by taking a few intimate moments together at the top of the staircase before hugging and kissing their guests as they headed out the door, down the tree-lined road, and back into the real world.

When I quit my day job just over six months ago, I had so many ideas of what I could do now that I would be working for myself. Silly things, like I thought I might dye my hair a fun color, or paint my nails neon yellow just because I could! Or that perhaps I would completely change up my wardrobe and dress more like 'an artist'. I thought working for 'the man' had held me back from being my true, colorful self! I envisioned shedding layers of 'conservative, stuffy Rachel' to reveal a more creative, free spirited, boho, hippie artist type. I tried on a few different looks in the beginning, did weird things with my nail polish, looked for a different style of clothes, searched Pinterest for the perfect shade of navy for my new hair. What really happened though was that I didn't want to dye my hair or paint my nails off-beat colors or change the way I dress. That's not the transformation I desired. It turns out, I like who I am on the outside. I love my hair, my simple nail polish, and my simple, classic-with-a-trendy-edge style. The real transformation has been on the inside. It's still a work in progress. Those layers are still peeling back. And everyday I'm loving more and more who I'm becoming. 📷: @caitkramer
