Jen and Andy are a couple that loves bike riding, their cat & traveling. Their Minneapolis wedding day was celebrated at FIVE event center which is an industrial building located in the Uptown neighborhood of MN. The floral for the ceremony and reception was beyond a dream and I loved the way the incorporated a soft purple and grey color pallet. Both the bride & groom walked down the aisle w/ both of their parents which was so sweet. During the reception guests enjoyed a champaign toast, Photo Booth and of course dancing!
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
We met on match.com 8 years before marrying—back when online dating wasn’t done on a cell phone and it was still relatively new! And even though we met online, we ended up later learning that we actually lived a block away from each other so it’s entirely possible that our paths could have crossed either way!
The proposal happened on a trip to Miami on the bride’s 30th birthday on an abandoned rooftop that we stumbled upon. The ring the groom had bought was done at the jeweler yet the actual proposal in Miami was somewhat unplanned but the groom was feeling inspired and bought a silly, cheap ring while in Miami in order to be able to propose on that special day, in that special place. I still have the $5 ring he proposed with and it’s almost as special as the real one that I got a few days after the proposal when it was ready.
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
It really does go as fast as everyone says it goes so be sure to take those moments to soak it all in and remember how special the day truly is. I also think people don’t talk enough about the days right after your wedding. I experienced a little bit of “post-wedding blues” in the immediate days that followed because we had built up so much anticipation for that day that when it went so quickly and then was all of a sudden over I was sad.
But luckily we had an amazing honeymoon in Italy that we left on a few days later that allowed me to process everything and remember what was really important —the relationship between us! Plus we got our wedding photos from eileen very shortly after the wedding which allowed us to relive the day over and over again!
I think I’d just tell all future brides and grooms that the “post-wedding blues” are normal! And they will pass and eventually allow you to look back on your wedding day with such happiness and love for what you were so lucky to have experienced with everyone you love the most!

Spoiler alert, it’s my 9 year self employment anniversary today and I’m going to do some reflecting, ranting and raving. Our whole lives it’s instilled in us “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. I remember when I was in first grade I drew a stick figure at an easel and wrote “artist”. That’s a Libra quality right there, never get too specific. My point is, even as a first grader I was already thinking about that some day I was going to have to get a job, to pay the bills and that job better be a dream job because our whole life is defined by what we call our job. When I was fired from my job I was devastated for about 48 hours. Then I realized that I didn’t want to work, I didn’t want to have a boss, I didn’t want to follow a schedule that someone else set up for me. These were my motivations to take Eileen K Photography full time. I knew that if I could create my own empire I would truly not feel like I was going to “work”. I had set goals for about 5 years out. I didn’t need 5 years and I had crushed them. So, here I am 9 years later and I really don’t know what the future holds. I know I want to continue creating, keep making people happy, keep traveling, keep saying f*%# MN winters and I don’t really know what else. None of this would be possible for me through with out every single one of you that has invested in me, trusted me with your memories and enjoyed what I do. Every single like, comment, review and hug means so much to me! #eileenkphoto #mnweddingphotographer #mnwedding #theknot #girlboss #entrepreneur #womeninbusiness #bosslady #ladyboss #femaleentrepreneur #motivation #womensupportingwomen #inspiration #entrepreneurlife #savvybusinessowner #communityovercompetition #womeninbiz #entrepreneurship #womenentrepreneurs #beyourownboss #smallbusiness #wonderlust #womentravlers #solotravel #minneapolis
