Q & A with the bride: Fransheska-Sam Wedding-Bells Banquets
When and how you met?
October 2013 – E-Harmony! First time I tried online dating.
Fun details on the proposal! Where, when, how?
ALoft Hotel Brooklyn, New York | May 17th, 2015 | Master Degree graduation celebration weekend. Sam came to New York to attend my Master degree graduation and spend the weekend with me. My graduation was on Friday May 15th and Sunday 17th at night on the same hotel lobby we met, he popped the question.
Describe the look, theme, style, and colors of the wedding:
Theme – Fusion of Cultures – Puerto Rico and Pittsburgh! | Look – Formal | Style – Summer Elegant | Colors – Soft and Pastels – Light Blue, Light Rose, Lila, Mint Green, Champagne.
What inspired the vision?
Diversity and Juxtaposition! I have a 17 year background as an Interior Designer, so coordinating concept, design and décor comes natural to me. I chose to play with juxtaposed elements, dark vs light, rustic vs elegant, neutral vs complementary colors.
What is making your wedding unique?
The fact that we are from different cities, I am Hispanic from San Juan, Puerto Rico and Sam is from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the concept of Fusion of Cultures was given. Through locations, food, drinks, music, dance and English and Spanish languages, we had an organic fusion of cultures full of life, rhythms and flavors.
What moment of the day were you most looking forward to and why?
OMG!!! To show our guests the slideshow video of our intimate and secret wedding on July 30th, 2015. We got married in a very intimate Christian ceremony in Twin Lakes Park – Latrobe, PA. one year before. July 30th is my father’s birthday and because he passed away 20 years ago (that year) I wanted to honor him with my wedding date. July 30th, 2015 was a beautiful morning. We had the same preparation of a big wedding but on a small-scale. Invitations, Outdoor Pavilion venue, wedding cake, brunch, gifts, toast, wedding pictures and lot of love between only 10 guests. Sam’s parents, my mom, Sam’s godparents, our pastor and his wife and a great friend’s couple. We wanted to be married, but we didn’t have the time to prepare the big wedding that we wanted and fit everybody’s agenda in such a short-term. So, me as a very creative being proposed to my fiancé to have two weddings, one small and one big. The funniest part is that not even our siblings or best friends knew about our intimate wedding. It was a secret for a whole year and our few guests kept it. At the venue we had our rundown all set up, toast, love story video and the wedding video, haha. Wow, it was priceless watching everybody’s faces, nobody had an idea what was going on. While the video was running, it was obvious that it was a wedding, their reactions were hilarious. After the video concluded, we closed the loop with Sam’s parents narrative about the details of that big day exactly one year ago. Everybody laughed and cried.
Any special details that deserve their story told? (ex: family heirlooms, special gifts) :
We were married a year before in a private ceremony that we kept secret and surprised the crowd with a collage video of photos from the prior ceremony. The shock was priceless.
