Eric and Cassy met in the summer of 2007 when they were just 14 years old. Although Cassy remembers meeting Eric prior to the end of their freshman year, Eric doesn’t remember meeting Cassy until that summer when he was at a friend’s house. When Cassy and her friends got there, Eric was “too sweaty” for Cassy to hug (her words not his). It wasn’t long after that Eric told his mom that “the most amazing girl in the world” was coming over and he made that same girl his “official” girlfriend on June 1st, 2007.
Despite not being able to drive, Eric and Cassy spent most of the summer side-by-side. In August, they turned 15 just 6 days apart and the adventure of high school together began. From homecoming to prom, from driving lessons to football games, from graduating high school to starting college, from turning 18 to turning 21, there weren’t many milestones that Cassy and Eric didn’t celebrate and conquer together.
For four years, Eric and Cassy chased their dreams 10 hours apart until they graduated with their bachelor’s degrees in 2014. They weren’t on their first adventure in Florida long before another adventure presented itself. In 2015, Cassy and Eric headed to Iowa to work towards their master’s degrees. Through classes, coaching, internships, externships, and yet another graduation, Cassy and Eric finally found their place together in St. Louis in 2017.
2017 was a year of firsts as Cassy started her dream job as a Speech/Language Pathologis and Eric as a football recruiting coach. In February 2018, Cassy and Eric decided after a date night to look at engagement rings only to get “fitted.” When the final idea of the ring was put together, Eric sneakily bought the ring they’d built and was waiting for a time to propose where Cassy would never expect it. Being the planner that Cassy is, it was challenging to find a date/time that would still leave her speechless.
In early April, Cassy mentioned it would be fun to have a Mexican themed wedding because of all the colors and food that she enjoys. With Cinco de Mayo just a month away, Eric started to coordinate the engagement party with Cassy’s family and friends. Thanks to Cassy’s Aunt Gina and Uncle Brian, Eric was successfully able to cover up the engagement party by making her think it was a Cinco de Mayo party. Eric asked Cassy to marry him on May 5th, 2018 while hanging out on Gina and Brian’s rooftop patio in downtown St. Louis. It was the first time that Eric has ever seen Cassy speechless. The rest of the day was celebrated with friends and family.
They were married on a rainy October day at Piazza Messina in Cottleville, MO. It was an amazing day – one that Cassy had been waiting for her entire life. Cassy chose to decorate her wedding in gold accents, burgundy, and navy blue. It created a warm and inviting tone for their beautiful wedding day. They also displayed photographs of their relationship throughout the years.

It's my birthday today! I'll be celebrating tonight with friends ( photographing this morning), but this past year has been wonderful and so special in so many ways. The most important and totally life changing event was becoming a mama. I've always wanted to be a mother, but it took me until I was in my 30s to actually make it a goal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Motherhood is the best and HARDEST job in the world, and it's changed my priorities and made me become a better person (because I have to be – I am raising the future and I want him to be a wonderful, compassionate person). I feel like I work harder than ever before, but life seems sweeter and I am just over the moon happy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also graduated with my MFA this year (in January), and I signed with a literary agent for my children's book this summer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Only happy things are ahead. Thank you to my amazing clients this past year. You have given me so much joy!
