Brigette and Don got ready in separate hotel rooms near BWI. Each was surrounded by family and wedding party as the pre-wedding festivities began. Sequin gowns hung beside one another as curls were finished and laughter ensued. While it was raining outside, the bridal party was buzzing with excitement for the event ahead. The weather could not dull the day’s sparkle.
The rain poured down a little harder as we made the commute from BWI to Celebrations at the Bay. Everyone rushed in with their belongings to the parlors on site, where they were able to make last-minute touch-ups. Brigette and Donald both finished getting ready there, as guests began to file in. The ceremony took place inside the event tent, surrounded by beautiful Gatsby inspired decor. Attendees filled gold chiavari chairs adorned with greenery under white draped, chandelier filled ceilings. A muted purple uplighting set the tone for a romantic moment as Donald and Brigette became Mr. and Mrs.
Everyone enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while the newlyweds stepped away for photos. It was windy, but the rain stopped. This gave us long enough to take some portraits outdoors before getting ready for reception introductions. The party kicked off immediately as bridal party attendants danced their way in. Dinner was served with a few delightful toasts from loved ones. Dancing ensued shortly after and went on throughout the night. The rain couldn’t damper this party’s vibe. It was a night of sparkle and shine!

- Don and Brigette share a sassy sense of humor. They like to one-up one another, tease each other, get playful, and love a little sarcasm.
Q and A: Brigette-Don Wedding-Celebrations-Bay
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
I got all of my inspiration from Pinterest! What did we ever do without it! I didn’t go with a theme really, just wanted a timeless look with white being the overall flow and focus with rose gold accents and marble details.
Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
I decorated with greenery, I asked the florist to place eucalyptus on the aisle chairs and I used table numbers and favors to pull in the rose gold and marble elements. We’re also big on travelling, so I had purchased a globe for people to sign for us to have as a keepsake. However, even after printing a sign that said to sign the globe, not one person did!
What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
My bridesmaids bouquets I made myself, but my bouquet was made by my florist. I went for a traditional tight rounded look for my girls, and a cascading effect in my bouquet. My bouquet incorporated the eucalyptus I had run throughout the reception.
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
My cake topper was personalized with our name “Mr & Mrs Hardy” and my hanger was “Mrs Hardy” but aside from that, I didnt have any special personalized vendors.
Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
I basically chose both looks, he really had no say haha! He trusts my judgment and knew I had a plan! My gown was from Kleinfeld in New York. It had diamonds and beading on the bodice with a v neck line and a plunging back, from the waste it cascaded down and out like cinderella. His tux was custom-made from Men’s Wearhouse, his Bow Tie was handmade from a boutique, and his jacket was two-toned. It was medium grey with a black silk lapel. Open chest with no vest, and a fitted white tuxedo shirt with hidden buttons.
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
Don and I met online on a dating site, and talked for weeks before meeting in person, and after meeting in person we were almost inseparable! He proposed to me in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands on Honeymoon Cove, where we privately chartered on a catamaran with a gorgeous view of the mountains! And I got it all on video!
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
My most anticipated moment was probably waiting to see the look on his face. Even after 6 1/2 years together, he gave me butterflies as I approached him! I was so nervous all day leading up to that moment, wondering if he’s going to like my dress, will he notice my hair or nails, or anything I did to prep myself for him haha so silly!
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
Elope!!!!! Haha no the planning process was by far the worst experience of my life, I mean it was torture. I enjoyed maybe 30 days of it, but after that it was awful! But that’s just my experience! I also didn’t get to enjoy the night, it went by entirely too quickly! But I do love looking at the pictures, since it was over in the blink of an eye.

Hey, hey, hey… did someone say #fridayintroductions ?!? 💖 Let’s talk goals for 2019! 💖 1 – Skip the yearly goals, and set them quarterly. I often find myself thinking so big, with ideas adapting as time goes on. Setting goals within a smaller amount of time is going to keep me focused on the NOW. Or so I hope. 💖 2 – Drink more water. I would love to quit drinking soda all together, but first I’m going to set my sights on drinking more water. 💖 3 – Repeat standard marketing goals for the 2020 wedding season, as I am currently at my minimal goal for 2019. Woooo! 💖 Want to read my full list of goals? Watch out for a special blog post on Monday! #ashtonkelleyphotography #akpbehindthescenes #destinationweddingphotographer
