From Grizzle Photography:
We had Jacob contact us for surprise engagement photos. He wanted to surprise Kelsey and pop the question to her during the photo session. We of course were super excited to take these pictures and help him pull off his surprise.
They are graduates of UNG so the location is special to them both.
Q and A: Kelsey-Jacob Proposal-UNG
Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
The two of us were both athletes at the University of North Georgia during the 2014-2015 school year. Jacob was a senior on the baseball team, and I was a sophomore on the women’s basketball team. All of the athletics teams seemed to hang out every weekend, and one weekend during October we finally met. We talked back and forth getting to know each other throughout the rest of the school year, and FINALLY Jacob asked me out on a date in May.
What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
Our relationship is very special and unique by our love for sports. Jacob missed only a select few of my basketball games during my last two years at UNG. We really enjoy anything regarding sports and athletics. We also love being out on the lake and spending our time with friends and family.
How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
Jacob: There have been a couple of moments where one of us have been sick or felt under the weather, and realizing in those moments how Kelsey means to me. Whether it is her taking care of me, and how lucky I am for that, or me taking care of her, and wanting to do all I can to make her feel better.
Kelsey: There wasn’t a particular moment but rather many moments put together that made me realize Jacob was the one. Having someone make it a priority to attend most, if not all, of my basketball games was very special and meant a lot to me. Having someone there to take care of me when I was sick or to bring me flowers and a bottle of wine when I was stressed with school was very meaningful. I enjoy the little moments that Jacob makes special because I knew he cared and loved me the most. That’s when I knew he was the one.
Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
It was completely planned out, and a complete surprise for Kelsey. I had hired Grizzle Photography to take a photo shoot of Kelsey and I. I told Tracie Grizzle that I wanted some shots before as like “couple” shots, but then once we got to the archway on the UNG campus, I was going to propose. It was also our two-year anniversary of dating, and I had told Kelsey that we were getting pictures done in order to give as gifts to our grandparents and others whose birthdays were around the corner. And I also said that after the shoot we would go and do something special for our anniversary.
She had gotten a new outfit for the day, and had her nails done. It was actually a close call because it was supposed to start raining that afternoon, and our shoot was at 5pm. We got the perfect break in the weather, and after a couple of warm up shots we were able to do the proposal under the arch at UNG. That was only the first part of the surprise though.
We then went for a drive, and luckily she was excitedly texting people on her phone because she didn’t realize where we were going. We went to my parents house where I had about 50-60 of our closest friends and family. We had grandparents, cousins, high school friends, college friends, and couples friends all there waiting to surprise her and celebrate our engagement!

Oh my goodness!!! We were super excited to be apart of this couple's surprise proposal! It was so much fun! We had planned to take this couples pictures and on this shot we asked Kelsey to look away off in the distance. This was Jacob's cue to get down on one knee and propose to the love of his life! We are so happy for this sweet couple!
