These two were destined to find each other. Dillon worked hard to surprise Jessica. She was even the one to set up the “couple’s session and had no idea what was going to happen. Her face is priceless! Their love radiates in every inch of these images!
Q and A – Jessica-Dillon Proposal-Raleigh:
Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
On the night of May 13, 2017 I was celebrating the marriage of my best friend Kayla and her husband Nathan. We went out dancing to after the reception to continue celebrating the two. We were all out dancing and having a good time, and then walks in this guy who starts dancing like “Magic Mike.” My friends noticed him looking at me and pushed me towards him. I was very nervous, so I turned away and he grabs my hand and pulls me in. We spent the rest of the night dancing and talking. I knew then and there this was the start of something good.
What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
We both love food and both love to eat! We value our weekends together because that’s when we get to see each other considering we live almost two hours apart. Therefore, on the weekends we spend our quality time together, which is one of both of ours main love language, going to dinner one night and cooking together the next. We also love going to the beach together on the weekends and taking the puppies! We love to pack the car down and go see new places and try new foods! We are most happy when we are together. ❤️
How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
I knew the moment we went on our second date he was the one. We met up at the same place we met at and spent the night dancing and talking, followed by a nice long walk on the beach. We talked for hours and I knew I loved him then.
Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
Last year in November me and Dillon planned a photography session with my cousin Christy for when he got back from deployment. We wanted to have some pictures made for ourselves, family and I wanted some for wall decor. So, we planned this session in hope to get some family photos with the puppy and of ourselves. Little did I know, he was planning on proposing to me.
We went through two outfits for our photo session and towards the end my cousin was taking some portraits of me then asked me to stand in this one spot because it was “perfect.” As I turned around to get in that one spot he got down on one knee! I was so shocked, no idea this was going to happen! From my photos, you can probably see how shocked and excited I was! He had this planned for weeks!
Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?
I am very excited about our wedding day! We are not wasting any time! We have just about everything planned and ready to go, only a few small things left to purchase!
They said “I do” at Gregory Vineyards June 10th!

Hey 👋🏼 y’all! It’s Friday and here’s to seeing my face on here again! In honor of this photo and being in your face, let’s drop some serious truth bombs here today. Mmkay? . Why do we have to compare ourselves to everyone? Mind you , not everyone deals with this but women tend to be even worse at this for some reason? We always have to seek to have it better ( or worse, depending on how your trying to compete). Can I be honest!? I don’t really care if my house is smaller or if my kid is hitting all the milestones at a different time yours did? I find it happening all too often that women are comparing themselves, their kids and belongings to other women. Tell me something please? Why does it matter? I do not care if you have something better than me, i also do not care if yours isn’t as nice as mine. I love people. All of them. . That’s one thing this Photography journey has taught me. You can find beauty in the ugliest of places but I also have learned that some of the most beautiful things have thorns and nasty attributes that makes it unattractive. . I myself am fighting the battle of comparison. Not feeling like my work is as good as others or that I am an annoying person (cause I kinda am sometimes.) Realizing that its okay that I am not as perfect as someone else’s highlight reel. . I am also trying not to speak badly of others, especially when I am mad & ranting. I’m not saying I’m perfect, just saying I am truly working on myself this year. So sometimes I get quiet, mainly because I am trying to be nice, keep peace, & not say anything I will regret! I am trying to realize that we all are fighting our own battles and just because it may not be a big deal to some people, others may not be able to handle it. . There have been so many times my feelings have been hurt because others have spoken ill of me or just because they acted like they are better than me. I am not better than anyone, I am just different. I have different opinions, expectations, schedules, obstacles, & workflows. I’m learning that it’s okay to have different opinions & expectations & I am 100% sure that I will agree to disagree with yours because that’s what makes us all unique!
