Album Story – Whitney-Jeff Covington Farms Engagement Photos with a horse
Whitney & Jeff are that couple.
You can tell how much in love they are just by looking at them. The sly smiles, bright sparkle to their eyes, and how they are in constant contact. They have that tangible untangible connection.
I met them a few years back when they wanted couples portraits. We just clicked-pun intended-and have stayed in contact.
When Jeff proposed, Whitey called me right away to start planning their engagement photos and talk about their wedding. She knew what she wanted, but did not know how to find the perfect location.
Whitney rode horses in her youth and wanted to have an outdoor engagement session on a beautiful farm with a lake, barn. fields of flowers and of course animals. Luckily, I had somewhere in mind, and became that pest calling the venue until I received a confirmation we could shoot their engagement session on their grounds.
Then, it was time to surprise Whitney with what I had found.
The day of our scheduled shoot, it was a blazing 96 degrees but we did not care. It was perfect with bright blue skies. Covington Farms is absolutely beautiful with stately moss lined Oaks, acres of green pastures, fields of wild flowers, a peaceful lake and of course, horses.
Their two hour session rocked and I ended up delivering over 400 images to them, so coming up with only 75 of my favorites was tough for me.
I hope you love their images as much as I do.
Q1: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A1: I am originally from Georgia and Jeff has lived in Riverview his whole life. I moved to Apollo Beach where my parents were when I was 20. I got a job at the same Cheesecake Factory as him. Jeff was working as an intern at the same time as serving so we were on different shifts for a while. I actually just turned 21 when he asked me if I wanted to get drinks that night after our shift at his favorite bar down the street. I was nervous driving over but it ended up being one of the best decisions of my life! We sat there at the end of the bar and just talked. It wasn’t the least bit awkward probably because he has a great sense of humor. That was one of the first things that made me fall for him. He can always make me laugh even when I don’t want to.
Q4: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
A4: I’m a pretty private person when it comes to romance so everything about Jeff’s proposal was perfect! It was on Mother’s Day and we already have a son. I just finished reading my card and Jeff said, “there’s one more thing I want to give you. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while.” I’m thinking omg is this really happening…okay don’t make a face…he can’t be proposing. He got down on one knee with Owen and pulled a blue box out of his pocket and I knew it really was happening. I immediately started crying and of course I said yes! Owen, our son was right there to witness it all in the kitchen. It was so perfect for us!
Q6: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?
A6: Yes! We are so excited and to see our ideas starting to unfold into our dream wedding is so much fun! We are doing a non-traditional style. It’s going to have a charming rustic feel with a modern twist. Dusty blue is the color scheme. Picking something that’s on trend is really helpful with finding inspiration- especially on Pinterest.
