Album Story – Liz-Ryan Cellar Engagement Photos
Introducing this stunning and editorial glamorous wine cellar engagement of Liz and Ryan!
HOW THEY MET (RYAN)
I work for a private business college in Los Angeles. One of my students worked with one of LIz’s closest friends. The two conspired to play matchmaker by bringing Liz to an Independence Day pool party function that my school organized. The two plotted to introduce LIz and I and the plotting worked!
THE PROPOSAL (RYAN)
My siblings and I were taking a family trip to the Bahamas for my brother’s wife’s 40th birthday. Not meaning to steal the thunder from my sister-in law’s 40th, I respectfully asked my brother for permission to propose to my girlfriend, Liz, towards the end of the trip, to which he happily agreed.
Upon arriving to the hotel and resort on a Wednesday, I booked a Saturday sunset boat cruise as the opportunity to propose. The boat had a capacity of 25-30 people but there was a minimum of 10 people to secure a launch. I invited my family to be present to share this joyous event. This included siblings, wives, nieces, and nephews. I asked them to record and take pictures for me. Including myself, there were 10 people. I expressed to the agent that I was proposing and that I would like this trip to be with my family only, no strangers. The agent gave me a wink and agreed to close the booking to the public for my special occasion. It was perfect.
When Saturday 6 P.M. came, the boat cruise company botched the reservation! There was a misunderstanding. The booking was accidentally cancelled. There was no sunset cruise. We were leaving Sunday; Saturday evening was proposal day! Everyone except Liz realized what a catastrophe this was. I was frantic, trying to figure out what to do next. Not wanting to make a scene and ruin the surprise, I simply invited Liz for a stroll on the beach.
With Go-Pro camera in hand, we walked to an isolated part of the beach resort. It is quite difficult to record yourself, while preparing to propose. Imagine holding the Go-Pro stick with your right hand trying to capture the best angle, as your left hand is your pocket clutching the ring box, but not making it obvious that there is a huge bulge, all the while, trying to regurgitate the speech you had prepared for weeks. I take pride in being able to public speak, but at that moment my speech came out like incoherent babbling. Knowing I messed up, I instinctively planted one knee in the beautiful, soft, white sand and asked Liz to marry me. What started off as a stressful mistake, ended up becoming a funny story we can now retell our kids. We had our sunset proposal after all!
