FROM THE BRIDE TO BE:
Our story is a little different than most. What brought us together? A toothache. Well fate and a toothache. Aaron was working in Elkins (which is 90 minutes away from where I work in Morgantown as a dental hygienist) and he started to experience excruciating tooth pain. He called his cousin to ask what to do and she recommended calling our office. By some miracle we had an evening appointment available, which literally never happens! I also had a cancellation at the same time Aaron had an appointment so I was able to see his handsome self as he walked through the door! We did not really speak to each other when he was at the office but we definitely noticed each other!
A few days later I decided to reach out to him on social media, and soon after that we had our first date. And the next day a second date. And the next day a third. And now here we are 8 months later, planning our wedding! Our connection and chemistry was instantaneous. The craziest part of the whole story…we only took an x-ray for Aaron’s tooth and were referring him to a specialist for a second opinion. But his tooth hasn’t hurt since that day!
FROM THE BRIDE TO BE – THE PROPOSAL:
So the day of the proposal just seemed like a usual Sunday. My mother was in town that weekend, so we went to church and went somewhere for brunch after church as we normally do. Aaron had just come back from an ice fishing trip in Michigan with some of the guys in his family. I admit I felt guilty that they came back early from their fishing trip because Aaron said he didn’t want to wait any longer to see each other, so he drove back very late Saturday night. I was eager to see him too but I wanted him to have quality time with the guys. I had no clue what was up his sleeve.
So after Sunday brunch he mentioned going to Coopers Rock since he had family in town who had never been there before. I felt it was a little strange to hike in February but was up for some fresh air and definitely wanted his family to see how beautiful the view is there. The plans were rearranged slightly when we made it to Coopers Rock and the main gate to the park was closed for the season. Aaron was on his phone a lot and reassured me we could just follow the roadside trail and meet up with his family at the overlook.
We started our walk and as usual I am in my own little world when Aaron tells me to stop as he noticed something on the trail. I turned around as he pointed to sticks that were laid together to form an arrow. I struggled to see what he was seeing, but followed the arrow per his suggestion. As we walked in the direction of the arrow, I saw a small wooden box placed in the hollowed our portion of a large tree. At the time I am realizing what is about to happen, I see Aaron start to position himself to get down on one knee.
As my eyes fill up with tears, Aaron asked if I was willing to spend the rest of my life with him. As I shake my head yes and try to regain speech to actually say “yes!” all of his family appeared in the woods from behind trees surrounding us! It was a beautiful, heartfelt moment. And I was so thankful that Aaron included family in our special moment, who also documented the whole proposal while hiding behind the trees!
