Album Story – Lexi-Tom Downtown Engagement Photos
What a beautiful Saturday night adventuring around with this gorgeous couple between Downtown Iron Mountain and Spread Eagle Chain of Lakes!
These two absolutely radiated love – their laughter and happiness were contagious which made for a fun filled night celebrating their love story!
Oh…and I bet you can guess where Tom got the ring… Erickson Jewelers, the historic Iron Mountain Downtown destination jewelry store that is owned by Lexi’s parents, Randy and Sherri Erickson. Although it may be renovated, Sherri and Randy kept the history alive – just like years ago when the former Frankini brothers were there on site taking care of your jewelry, goldsmith Randy works right above the showroom to service your most treasured possessions! Not to mention all of the details that were left to preserve this historic building – it is absolutely breathtaking and adds so much to our downtown area!
From the Bride (How they Met):
“We first met at a hockey game up here at Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI where we both went to college. At the time, we both liked different people so nothing really ever happened between us until the next year. The next year, he saw me at his church briefly. He added me on Facebook the same day and then messaged me shortly after I accepted his friend request and asked if I had gone to that church and for how long and eventually, we started hanging out and got to know each other. The first day we hung out together, we went and got coffee at Biggby (which is where I worked) and walked around and talked until around 1 am. Then that whole first week we started talking, we would stay up getting to know each other until around 3 or 4 in the morning basically everyday. He asked me to be his girlfriend about a week and half after we had started talking. Me, being my sassy self, told him I would accept after he took me on a proper date (which he did 🙂 ). We have been together ever since!
From the Bride (How He Asked):
When we visited my parents for Thanksgiving before the engagement, he was able to go ask my dad at the store for his permission to marry me (which of course he said yes!) while I was at an event with one of my close friends. He told Tom that he would have my mom and the other employees that work there to all pick out one or two options they thought I would like. The next day, he told me that “my dad needed help moving boxes at the store” which was believable since he was having issues with his back at the time. He ended up picking out the ring that my mom had picked for me. Mid-December, he got me at Biggby, we took a walk down by the water (which is exactly what we did that first time we hung out!), we went hiking to see some frozen waterfalls, took me to an abandoned factory, and then took me to McClain State Park and walked all the way to the same wall where we took our first picture together. He said “Let’s take a picture together!” So I took a selfie of us and as I was looking through the few that I took to make sure his eyes weren’t closed, he said “See, it’s cute since this is where we took our first picture as boyfriend and girlfriend…but it’ll also be our last.” and when I turned around, he was down on one knee with the ring. I don’t think there was a better way for it all to happen! I don’t think he even asked me the question before I said yes and made him put the ring on my finger! 🙂
