Blake is a wedding planner and in addition to sharing engagement photos, she also shared below the story of how she met Charles and how he proposed. Aaron and Jillian Photography perfectly captured Blake-Charles Engagement Photos.
From the Bride: Blake-Charles Engagement
I first met Charles in accounting class at the College of Charleston during our junior year. Charles sat next to me on the first day of class and one look into his brown eyes and I was smitten. I looked forward to going to class everyday so I could sit next to him. One day, he asked me if I wanted to meet him at the library to study for an upcoming test. Although the class material was completely over my head, I enjoyed every minute of spending time with him and getting to know him better. It only took a few dates for us to both realize that what we had was something special. We went to the Beaufort Water Festival with a bunch of friends one summer and after a fun day on the water, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I have never been so sure of something in my whole life, and the rest is history! After five years of dating, our love grew stronger to the point where we had a solid friendship and foundation for marriage.
The proposal took place at The Biltmore in North Carolina during a weekend getaway. It was Christmas time, so the Hotel was completely decked out in beautiful twinkling lights, wreaths, gingerbread houses, and candles everywhere. The holidays have always been a special time for us with our families that we cherish. We never miss a chance to decorate our own Christmas tree at home together so this seemed like the perfect place to visit. While at dinner, Charles was quiet and non responsive which is not his usual conversational self. I could tell that he had something on his mind. Before dinner was served he asked if I wanted to go take a walk by the grand Christmas tree, it was definitely a sight to see! When we got up to the lobby he led me by the hand to the decked out tree and then got down on one knee and said the most beautiful words before asking for my hand in marriage. After containing my excitement, I said yes! We hugged, cried (happy tears), laughed, and had the most perfect evening.
My favorite moment from the day Charles proposed was hearing the actual proposal while he was on one knee, it was the sweetest moment and so surreal! We were surrounded by twinkling Christmas lights and candlelight, it really couldn’t of been more romantic!
When choosing my outfits for the engagement session, I wanted to be sure they were classic and would stand the test of time, nothing too trendy! The first outfit I knew I wanted to be bridal, so I chose a tea length white dress with a lace overlay. The second dress I chose was a blush maxi dress with a keyhole back, still keeping it light and airy to fit with the gardens of the venue.
