How to Choose a Ring For Your Wedding

How to Choose a Ring For Your Wedding

This is a collaborative post on How to Choose a Ring For Your Wedding.

Getting married is a massive step in your life; you are finally committing to spend the rest of your life with the one you love. When wedding planning, one of the things you will need to decide upon is what ring you want for your wedding. This is something you do not want to rush and is best to research. Your wedding ring, in most cases, will also be with you for the rest of your life, so you need something you are comfortable with and love.

Picking your wedding ring is not as straightforward as some people may think due to the number of choices you have and what sort of budget you may have. If you are struggling to decide what ring you would like then these tips may help you plan for your wedding ring.

Research what style you would like

Firstly you need to know what style of ring you would like as there are a few different options to think of. You need to decide if you would like gold or platinum and also whether you would like to go with a wedding band or a diamond ring. While you are making these choices, you need to think about what sort of budget you have as that will then have an impact on the metal you choose and also whether you could go for a 1 carat diamond ring or would need to go with a less expensive gem.

While researching your rings, make sure you check up on how to make sure the quality of a ring is genuine. There is plenty you can research online, which will tell you the telltale signs of whether the ring is what the seller says it is, and you can also look up the clarity of a diamond to make sure you are getting exactly what you want.

Start trying some on

The sooner you start your ring search, the better as this will give you enough time to have anything adapted or ordered in should it need to be. This is not something you want to leave to the last minute; you could have started as early as before the engagement, especially if you want to match your wedding ring and engagement ring as you could buy them together. This would only be an option if you were happy with the engagement, not being a surprise, though. Trying rings on is a great way to help pick your ring as you can get an idea of what size you would need, what style suits you best, and how comfortable it is as well; bear in mind you will be wearing this most days and for many years.

If you are planning your wedding and need to find a ring for yourself or your partner, it can be difficult to know where to start and what to look for, so hopefully, these tips will give you an idea of where to start and what may help you find the ring you want for your special day.

Planning your wedding is such an exciting time and something that you may have given plenty of thought to over the years. When it comes to planning your wedding, you are probably trying to get every detail just right, which can make things a little stressful at times. Instead of getting caught up in finer details, it’s best to go back to basics. Think about what you and your partner like, how do you like to spend your time, do you like big gatherings, or are you more comfortable socializing with smaller groups? Answering these types of questions will help you reconnect to what is important to you and help to plan a wedding that matches your preferences.

If you are both people that like to spend time outdoors, why not plan an outdoor wedding? Outdoor weddings open up many different options, enabling you to tailor the occasion to suit your requirements. Many outdoor weddings have a relaxed vibe about them, but equally, you can make the celebration more formal if you wish. If you like the sound of an outdoor wedding, these tips should help you to plan your perfect celebration:

Choose Your Time

The time of year is a vital consideration when you plan to marry outdoors. While there are many things that you can control on your special day, the weather is, unfortunately, not one of them. No one wants their day to be ruined by rain or wind, so doing a little research to find out the best time of year to get married in your chosen location is crucial.

One of the best parts of having an outside celebration is that you can incorporate the season into your plans. For example, if you love the fall, then getting married surrounded by the rich colors of fallen leaves may be your idea of perfection.

Find Your Perfect Location

Choosing your wedding location is one of the biggest decisions you will make in the planning process. Hunting for a location has to be one of the most exciting parts of your preparations. It is the perfect excuse to travel to various wedding venues to learn more about what they offer and whether they are your dream location.

There are so many outdoor wedding venue options available. From relaxed beach weddings to rustic-style country weddings, finding a venue that suits your style and taste should be pretty easy.

Add Some Shade and Cover

Although your wedding will take place outdoors, it is wise to have a covered area that can be used if needed. Having a marquee or a garden room option will help relieve some of the pressure if you are concerned about the weather conditions on the day. Giving guests the option to be under cover is a useful backup in case of a rain shower and will also provide a little shade if the day is hot. This will ensure that you have less to stress about and that everyone can enjoy your special day.

How to Plan a Beach Elopement

How to Plan a Beach Elopement

How to Plan a Beach Elopement

This is a collaborative post on How to Plan a Beach Elopement.

Many events that celebrate what’s important to use may have been canceled due to COVID-19, like birthdays, graduations, and weddings. A lot of anticipation and planning went on when your big wedding day approached, but because of the pandemic, that planning stopped and your wedding was canceled. It’s safe to say that weddings will look very different in the future and more will celebrate in smaller, more intimate ways.

However, making a new date to tie the knot doesn’t have to be hard. It can be just as special as the wedding you were supposed to have. Consider switching paths and plan an elopement on the beach! Luckily, an elopement requires a lot less detail, less money, and less planning. A beach elopement can provide a great personal and intimate setting where you can celebrate with close family and friends.

Details such as what you should wear, the destination, and how to make it a special day can feel stressful, but this guide can help you plan the beach elopement of your dreams. Read more for some tips to follow to make sure your day is exactly how you imagined.

Elopement Tips to Follow

Even though elopements are typically more casual, planning an elopement still requires some forethought. Being on the same page as your partner before you dive into the details is important and can ensure your plans run as smoothly as possible.

Here are some things to consider before you get eloped:

  1. Plan your announcement: Make sure you don’t leave anyone out when it comes to revealing the big news! Consider sending out announcement cards letting your close friends and family know, or for a more casual option, make some phone calls.
  2. Get your legal to-dos in order: Do your research and be aware of the process and legalities of getting eloped. Make sure you know when to register, bring your ID cards and obtain a marriage license beforehand.
  3. Stick to a timeline: Sticking to a schedule will minimize any stress and help everything go smoothly. Since this is an elopement it doesn’t have to be a strict plan, but consider where to spend your time on each activity.
  4. Decide on a budget: Planning a budget allows you to prioritize what is most important to you for your elopement. Elopements can be a lot cheaper than regular weddings, but you still need to consider payments such as wedding attire, transportation officiant cost, and possible reception costs such as decor, food, photographers, and more.

Just because your large wedding ceremony plans have changed doesn’t mean your elopement can’t be special, too. In fact, having just your closest friends and family with you on your big day can be even more memorable. Check out these beach elopement ideas from Florida Panhandle for some inspiration!

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

This is a collaborative post on Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography.

Today I’d like to introduce you to Blush & Pose Photography through a little interview and some of their images. Please see below for their story and their work.

Blush & Pose Photography is a husband and wife wedding photography team, based in Australia. Their contemporary style is both classic and timeless. In addition to photographing weddings in Australia, they are also destination photographers, servicing the United Kingdom & Europe.

How long have you been into photography?

We have both loved photography for a long time. However, we became serious about it and made it our full time job about 5 years ago.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

When did you start your photography business and what made you start?

Our photography journey started in Tasmania, Australia, where we ran our photo booth hire business. Our photo booth was so popular and before we knew it, we had a wedding to attend every weekend, sometimes even two. After a year or so, we were keen to expand our business and therefore moved into photography too. After 5 years of working in the industry, we have never looked back.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

How far will you travel to photograph a wedding?

While, we are based in Adelaide, Australia, we also extend our services to destination weddings. We’ve been fortunate enough to have captured many weddings abroad, including Manchester, UK as well as Paris.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Do you offer other services apart from wedding photography?

As professional photographers, our main area is wedding photography. Although, as time goes on, and with greater exposure, we’ve also been asked to capture family photography, along with various types event photography, including corporate events as well as commercial photography. In addition, we’re also gaining requests for wedding videography.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Tell me about your style?

We describe our style as timeless and modern, with that light and airy kind of feel. Photography styles change so quickly, so we avoid the use of washed out filters. Our editing style depicts a true representation of your wedding day. We’re big fans of natural light, along with a touch of mood, and on the day we provide a good variation of candid and traditional photos.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Do you have a favourite camera/technical kit?

We love the nifty fifty from canon (50mm f1.8) because it can be used to capture beautiful details as well as portraits. However, we also love a good zoom lens like the canon EF 70-300mm, f4-5.6 lens to capture those documentary photos, all while being discreet.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

What makes you different to your competitors?

It is hard to find two photographers for the price of one. This is definitely a bonus when you book through us. Furthermore, you can add on our photo booth hire or videography to each package, which is a real cost saver.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

The excitement of photographing a wedding is something we always look forward to and seeing how every little detail has come together. It’s a joy to see each couple’s personality come through on their wedding day. The fact that we’re chosen as a photographer is a real honour too.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

In your opinion, what do you think makes the perfect photo?

A gorgeous sharp image, with some bokeh, edited to reveal its natural colours, without hiding behind poor filters.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding photographer?

Do your research and always meet your photographers. Get to know each other and ask to see more of their portfolio, along with any products they sell. Why not ask if they also offer engagement shoots, so you can see their work firsthand, before committing. This is also a fun way to feel at ease with the photographer you choose.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

Can you give me some information on your pricing?

No wedding is too big or too small for us. We cater for each couple and offer packages to suit all Weddings. We recommend getting in touch for a unique quote if need be.

What is your perfect way to spend a day off?

A sleep in, followed by a drive to a new place where we’ve never explored, then ending the day at one of our favourite restaurants.

Getting To Know Blush & Pose Photography

If you weren’t running your business, what would you be doing?

My husband would be a lawyer, as this is what he was studying prior to getting into photography and I would be working as an Audiologist. Other than that, we’d probably be travelling the world.

Pro Tips: How to Move During a Pandemic

Pro Tips: How to Move During a Pandemic

This is a collaborative post on Pro Tips: How to Move During a Pandemic.

We are living in a weird time, there’s no doubt about it, but significant events are still happening.

Everything may look a little different, but couples are still getting married, people are taking new jobs and moving cross-country, and America and the world are getting to know their “new” normal.

Moving during a pandemic certainly looks different these days, whether locally or long-distance, but they are manageable to do safely. With the proper precautions, enforcing social distancing, and holding yourself and moving company responsible for abiding by the CDC’s guidelines, making a move can be done!

Let’s take a look at what moving companies are doing differently and how you can help limit the number of interactions during a move while keeping the whole process running smoothly.

Are Moves Still Happening During COVID-19?

Lives have been put on pause, but the show must go on—in a safe way! We have all had to put big life events on the back burner for the majority of 2020, but at some point, you need to make the changes you intended to (if you’re able).

Moving is one of the life-changing events that can be safely managed during the pandemic. Both moving companies and those moving should be trying their absolute hardest to abide by the CDC, federal and local guidelines to keep everyone in the process safe.

You may be moving by choice, which is very exciting, and you may be moving due to a state of emergency, but either way, moving during this uncertain time is a little more stressful than usual. The good news is that we are all in it together, and everyone is doing their best to keep others safe.

How is Moving Different During COVID-19?

It might not be as lax as it used to be, but moving during COVID-19 is safe and much more efficient. Ensure the moving companies you are looking at hiring follow the proper guidelines to keep you and their team safe. You should be comfortable with the moving company’s procedures, and during a time like this, they should be going above and beyond to make you feel protected.

What Moving Companies Are Doing

Taking temperatures

Almost all businesses have begun taking temperatures of their employees every day when they arrive at work. This ensures that no one is working while having a high temperature and trying to work even though they shouldn’t be. COVID-19 symptoms show and arise differently in every person, so taking temperatures at the start of an employee’s shift can help keep the virus’s spread in check.

Getting Tested Every 2 Weeks

Another tactic that companies are doing to stop the spread of COVID-19 is by having their staff get tested every two weeks. This is a timeline that the CDC states symptoms could start to show themselves. By having their team tested, this can nip any potential cases in the bud.

Wearing Masks and Gloves

Masks are mandated for most states and cities, and for moving companies in particular where a lot of items are being touched, wearing gloves have been added to their process. If a moving company you are interviewing doesn’t make their team wear masks, it’s in your best interest to find another one. Many companies are happy to abide by regulations to keep everyone safe, so there’s no need to settle.

Sanitizing and Social Distancing

It’s not realistic to continuously wash your hands during a move when you’re always touching and handling things, so, in combination with washing your hands for 20 seconds, sanitizing is another great way to help mitigate the spread of the virus.

You should ask the movers you interview about their social distancing and sanitation guidelines.

What You Can Do

Do Virtual Tours & Surveys

Before the pandemic hit the world by storm, when you hired a moving company, they would typically come by your home to survey it, note the number of items you had, and give an in-person quote.

Since limited contact is essential during the pandemic, you may have to put in a little more work, but it’s worth it to be safe, right?

If you haven’t started the packing process yet, the moving company may ask you to record a virtual tour of your home so that they can get a better idea of how much you’ll be moving. This will give them a more accurate picture of the move and, thus, a more precise quote for you. If you’ve already started the packing process, they may ask you to take pictures of your boxes to see how big they are, consider their weight, and how many you have.

Social Distance & Sanitize

We all know about social distancing, but not everyone always abides by it. If you can’t social distance during your move, make sure you wear gloves and masks to protect yourself and others.

Along with social distancing, sanitization is critical. Just like moving companies are going out of their way and taking the time to sanitize their trucks, dollies, and gear, you should meet their efforts to sanitize all you can on your side of the move as well.

Label Everything

During a pre-COVID move, it was normal for you to tell the movers which boxes go where but with social distancing, this isn’t necessarily the best option for a smooth move. Instead, label your boxes and items by room and with as much detail as possible, like fragile items, pet supplies, clothes, and food so that you know which things go where, and are easily able to get into items you’ll need right when you’re in your new home!

Moving during a pandemic is not ideal, but it’s completely doable with the proper precautions and regulations in line. Remember that we are all trying our best right now, so give grace in these confusing times. Cheers to your new move!

Five Ways to Spot a Fake Diamond

If you are in the position of buying a diamond from someone you neither know nor have heard of, you are in a predicament. Of course, the diamond could be real, making it a good investment or an opportunity not to be missed – but it could also be a fake designed to deprive you of your hard-earned money! Wherever possible, you should try and get your diamonds from reputable suppliers, and insist that they come with GIA or AGS accreditation. There are a number of reputable and impartial guides to spotting fake diamonds, such as this one from Pricescope diamond and jewelry forum: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/how-to-test-if-a-diamond-is-real-or-fake-what-actually-works. Here are some ways to spot a fake diamond.

Read-through/ Dot test

This test can only be undertaken on loose stones. Place the stone over a line of text, such as that found in a newspaper or book, and see if you can read the text through it. If you can read the letters quite clearly, you have a fake diamond on your hands. So thoroughly does a diamond reflect the light that you should not be able to see through it at all – even distorted letters and paper should not be visible through the diamond. The dot test is similar. When the dot is under the diamond, it should not be at all visible.

However, other stones can also reflect light well enough to pass as a diamond, so while you can prove a stone is not a diamond, you cannot prove that it is one for sure. All you can say is that it may be authentic.

Scintillation & Sparkle

Diamond experts can tell a fake stone from a real one by eye. Scintillation refers to the black and white glitter that can be seen inside the diamond, while a rainbow light is seen outside. This makes the stone seem to wink and glitter as it moves and adds very much to the attractiveness of the stone. Sparkle is that rainbow flame that is almost unique to diamonds. In order to determine the authenticity of a diamond an expert will usually take a known diamond and hold it close to the stone that is being valued, comparing and contrasting the scintillation and sparkle of the two.

However, a poorly cut diamond can fail this test, as can one with inclusions that interfere with the light refraction. Moissanite can sometimes sparkle and scintillate as well as a diamond, so once again, the test is not 100% reliable.

Five Ways to Spot a Fake Diamond
Five Ways to Spot a Fake Diamond

With My Little Eye…

A jeweler with a loupe can sometimes see tell-tale signs of a fake stone. These include rounded edges to the facets, and a lack of all impurities. Only 0.01% of natural diamonds have no visible flaws, and thus are very rare indeed. Cut diamonds tend to have sharp edges, so a stone with no visible flaws at all, even under high magnification, and smoothed facet edges will almost certainly be a fake.

As with many of these tests, it is possible for a real diamond to be dismissed or a fake one to slip through, so care should be taken to administer more testing if there is any doubt.

Look Around

If the purported diamond has been set in cheap metal, or has been crafted with a lack of care or skill, then it is most likely not real. Real diamonds cost a lot, and thus are mined with care, cut and set with skill and expertise, and mounted into precious metals. Of course, stranger things have happened, and no stone should be dismissed on such a basis, but in general, a cheap costume ring will not contain a king’s ransom-sized diamond! Unfortunately!

Thermal/ Electrical Conductivity

Diamonds, being made from sturdy carbon crystals, are both thermally and electrically conductive. Cubic zirconia is neither, and moissanite, while thermally conductive, is not electrically so. In this way, once a diamond has passed all the other tests, the application of a small electrical current can determine, with certainty, whether the stone you hold is a diamond. There are devices that use just a tiny amount of current to check the conductivity of a stone, without any risk to the user.

Here’s How To Avoid A Few Common Holiday Disasters

This is a collaborative post on Here’s How To Avoid A Few Common Holiday Disasters.

Are you planning your next travel adventure? If so, then it’s important to think about some of the disasters you could experience and how to avoid these the right way. Here is some key advice.

Here's How To Avoid A Few Common Holiday Disasters

Lost Items

Did you know that hundreds and thousands of cases go missing every year? That’s something to consider when choosing what to pack in your luggage on holiday. The good news is that the majority of these cases will ultimately be returned, but you could still end up with a few days of your holiday without your suitcase. So, how do you deal with this issue?

Well, first, we recommend that you pack a couple days of clothing into your carry on so you’re not left with nothing. You might also want a duplicate of a couple items too. For instance, if you wear glasses, have a pair in your case and a pair in your carry on. That way if one goes missing you have the extra pair. You can find glasses for low prices online if you don’t already have a couple pairs.

You might also want to think about investing in a direct flight rather than connecting flights. Connecting flights will certainly make the issue of lost luggage far more likely.

Missed Flights

Missing a flight for your holiday can be a disaster, particularly if your airline isn’t that understanding. This is why you need to arrive early for your flight. If you are travelling internationally, you should be at the airport about four or five hours before your flight is due to take off. This will compensate for how long it’s going to take you to get through security. Be aware that there is no way to skip this process if you are late. You’ll just have to watch as the flight takes off without you. It’s also another reason why you should avoid connecting flights.

However, if you are taking connecting flights, then you need to make sure that there’s a good few hours between them, in case one gets delayed. Be aware, there are numerous reasons why a flight might ultimately end up not taking off on time.

Terrible Hotels

It happens to the best of us. At some point, you could end up on a holiday and stay in a hotel that makes the entire trip feel like an absolute nightmare. That’s why you shouldn’t automatically be swayed by cheap deals online. Things like ‘secret hotels’ are typically used to sell destinations that wouldn’t sell any other way. If you do get stuck in an awful hotel, the best way to deal with it is to spend as much time out of your room as possible. That way, you can still enjoy the destination. Try to just sleep in the hotel and then go elsewhere for the rest of the day. If you do this, you are guaranteed to still enjoy your vacation.

We hope this helps guarantee that you have an awesome holiday without these travel nightmares ruining things for you.

How to Use These 7 Wedding Entertainment Ideas to WOW Your Guests

How to Use These 7 Wedding Entertainment Ideas to WOW Your Guests

How to Use These 7 Wedding Entertainment Ideas to WOW Your Guests

This is a guest post on How to Use These 7 Wedding Entertainment Ideas to WOW Your Guests.

When planning the activities at your wedding, you should focus on the wedding entertainment ideas. That’s because you never want to make your wedding boring for the guests. You want them to have lots of fun and entertainment before heading back to their homes. That’s where you should take a look at the following wedding entertainment ideas.

You can pick one or more of these entertainment ideas and WOW your guests.

Get a wedding photo booth.

Wedding photo booths are ubiquitous. You can find such photo booths in almost all the weddings that you get invited to. However, it doesn’t mean that you should refrain from getting a wedding photo booth. You can still make the decision to get a wedding photo booth, and it can provide lots of fun and excitement to your guests.

There are professional service providers who can assist you with getting the wedding photo booths. They will come with props and costumes as well. You just need to pick the best place at your wedding venue to have the photo booth and entertain the guests.

Sax and DJ

You can think about getting both sax and DJ for the wedding. It will provide assistance to you with delivering the guests who come to the wedding with the best of both worlds. A DJ will usually fail to create a lively scene at the wedding unless he is a really good one. This is where a sax would help you with. You will also be able to enhance the colors by adding in some vocals, percussion, and other brass instruments. Along with these, you can add energy into the DJ set and get everyone to enjoy.

Ferris wheel

If there is an outdoor space, you can think about getting a small Ferris wheel. It can also provide support and assistance for all the guests to entertain themselves. The Ferris wheel you get will be able to provide you with an excellent photo opportunity for the guests as well. You can even think about getting your couple photos in front of the Ferris wheel. It is a good option available for you to keep the kids who come to your wedding day celebrations occupied. Parents would appreciate you for the decision taken to introduce a Ferris wheel as it provides them with the chance to keep the kids occupied for a while.

Bounce house

A bounce house is another great option available for you to keep the kids occupied. However, there are some upscale versions of the classic bounce houses, which you can even use to entertain the adults. The guests who come to the wedding and see those upscale bounce houses will never feel like they are adults. Instead, they will get into the inflatable bounce houses and have a great time. This is a great option available for all the guests to enhance their energy levels while taking part in the wedding day celebrations.

Acrobats

Acrobats will be able to enhance the vibe at your wedding with some exciting live performances. They are in a position to uplift the atmosphere at any wedding. Therefore, you won’t regret the decision taken to welcome acrobats to the wedding.

You will be able to use the tall ceilings that are available in the wedding venue to provide the support needed by the performance to go ahead and demonstrate their skills. Before you come up with the decision to use the ceilings, you should request permission. You can usually get permission from most of the wedding venues with ease. Then the performers will showcase their aerial skills and impress the guests. All the guests would love to capture pictures and videos of the breathtaking performances that they can see as well.

Caricatures

Guests who come to the wedding would love to take back souvenirs along with them. This is where you can invite a caricature artist to come to the wedding. It is another excellent wedding entertainment idea that is available for you to consider. You will not have to go through any difficulties when you are setting up a station for the caricature artist. Then you will be able to get him to draw caricatures of the guests who attend the wedding. To make it more exciting, you can get a custom border with the name of the groom and bride, along with the wedding date.

Karaoke

Karaoke can provide assistance to you by keeping all the guests at your wedding entertained. You just need to go ahead and set up an old school karaoke machine at the wedding. You can use a smaller podium to create a perfect venue for karaoke. Then you will be able to ask the guests to pick their own songs, or you can provide them with a list of songs. You just need to make sure that you are restricting the list of songs to those that are appropriate for your wedding. You can then get all the guests to enjoy it.

When looking for wedding entertainment, remember that musicians come in all sizes, ages, and shapes. Engog is one of the leading companies in wedding and entertainment services. They offer packages to suit every budget and time of year. Their goal is to make your big day a memorable one that you and your guests will cherish for years.

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

This is a guest post on Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Source

We all know the classic song: “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby…” but where exactly does moving fit into the equation? While holding off on moving in together until after marriage isn’t as popular as it once was, there are still a good portion of couples that wait until after tying the knot to combine households. While waiting can save you from some of the downsides of cohabitating before marriage, it also leaves you with the task of planning a wedding and a move—at the same time.

Planning both of these milestones simultaneously is a huge time commitment and definitely has a tendency to increase stress. However, there is no need to panic. While planning both together is a bit more work, you can use these 7 tips to make it efficient, effective, and even less stressful.

1.    Get Organized

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Source

One of the best moving tips was given to me by a mover from OZ Moving and it was to use a moving checklist. A moving checklist makes it super easy to see exactly what needs to be done for your move. Plus, organizing tasks by when they should be complete—1 month before the move, day of the move, etc.—can be a true sanity saver. In fact, making a similar list with your wedding to-dos or using a wedding planner is also an excellent idea.

These lists will not only keep everything on track, but they can also help ensure you don’t forget important tasks. If you only take one suggestion from this article, I highly recommend that these lists be it!

2.    Take Inventory

Hold off on your wedding registry until you take stock of what you and your fiancé own. While you may not have a crockpot, you may be surprised to find your fiancé has one tucked away in storage. The last thing you want is to end up with doubles. It will only clutter your home and let’s be honest; it also cheats you out of getting a gift that you could have actually used.

3.    Focus on Needs

Speaking of the wedding registry, gearing it more toward your needs can help your new home get off to the best possible start. Whether you’ve decided on moving into a home that one of you already owns or you’re getting a new place, make a list of what needs to be purchased to make it functional and homey. Then, check that list to see what can go on the wedding registry. Does your home need repairs? You may want to consider forgoing gifts for cash donations.

4.    Set Up the House Beforehand

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Source

If you are waiting to say, “I do” before moving in, it doesn’t mean your belongings can’t migrate to the new home beforehand. Start by moving non-essentials and work your way to the stuff you use more frequently. While this doesn’t work for cases where you don’t get possession of a house until after the wedding, in situations where this is possible, it is a great idea. Especially if you aren’t using professional movers. This method gets the majority of the work done before the wedding, so you can focus more on your big day and have less to do down the line.

5.    Ask for Help

There are only so many hours in a day, so calling in a few helping hands is highly recommended.

Wedding Planner: Can help you pull together your dream wedding with less effort on your part. In general, a wedding planner can take care of everything, from sourcing the right colored napkins to creating a seating chart.

Professional Movers: Has the muscle power and equipment to get your move done quickly and safely. With professional movers, you don’t have to worry about renting a truck or injuring yourself doing the heavy lifting. Plus, you can even get them to pack and unpack your stuff, which can free up loads of time.

Friends and Family: Sometimes professionals aren’t in the budget. If that’s the case, don’t be afraid to ask if friends and family are willing to help. Consider a girl’s night with packing and wedding planning or simply recruit a few extra people for moving day. Enticing them with drinks or food usually goes a long way!

6.    Keep It Simple

Don’t overthink your decisions, especially when it comes to the wedding. Re-thinking every decision you make will not only take time and slow down the planning process, but it will probably drive you nuts—as well as those around you. Keep things simple and go with your gut instinct.

7.    Don’t Forget Self-Care

Moving and Marriage: How to Plan Both at the Same Time?

Source

While this can be considered a life tip—not just one for planning a wedding and moving—it is essential to remember to take care of yourself during this process.  Marriage and moving are two of the most stressful life events, so things can start to spiral downhill rather quickly when it comes to mental health.

Ideas to prioritize your health during this planning period include:

Talk It Out: Getting your stressors off of your chest by chatting with a friend or your significant other can be very therapeutic. Sometimes all it takes is a simple conversation or some advice to get you back on track.

Get Active: A run/hike or a yoga session isn’t only good for your physical body, but it can help alleviate stress.

Pamper Yourself: We all know self-care extends beyond bubble baths and face masks, but a few relaxing beauty rituals certainly won’t hurt!

Both marriage and moving require a fair bit of planning, but it’s nothing you can’t handle! Before you know it, you will be moved into your new home and walking down the aisle, and every bit of planning will be well worth it. We promise!

This is a guest post – Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

Spain is the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and unforgettable experiences.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable honeymoon, look no further than Spain.

Spain offers the perfect combination of beaches, mountains, history, and art. There’s something for everyone to do. Whether you’re interested in visiting the world-class museum, relaxing on the breathtaking beaches, or just interested in exploring the historical cities — you can do it in Spain.

Spain is the perfect option if you’re looking for an unforgettable, once in a lifetime trip.

In this article, we’ll take a look at all the things you can see and do while on your honeymoon in Spain

Here’s a quick look at what’s ahead:

  • Places to go when in Spain including Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, the Spanish Islands
  • Things you’ll want to do during your trip including seeing the architecture, visiting museums, and taking in the culture

Places to Go in Spain

There’s so much to see in Spain, but we’ve identified a few areas that you’ll want to consider visiting. From historic cities to beautiful beaches and mountain sceneries, wherever your itinerary takes you, it will be an unforgettable trip.

Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

You can’t visit Spain without stopping in the country’s capital, Madrid. With a lively nightlife and plenty to keep you busy during the day, it’s a must-see. Image courtesy of Pixabay

Madrid

Madrid is the capital and largest city in Spain and is located in the heart of the country. It’s one central hub where you can experience everything from local cuisine, shopping, art, dancing, and so much more.

One thing you’ll want to keep in mind and plan for when traveling to Madrid is that many businesses close for a short period of time after lunch. Luckily, the nightlife within the city goes on for hours and promises something for everyone.

If you’re visiting Spain, you can’t skip Madrid. Whether you just spend a day passing through or stay in the city for a few days — you won’t be disappointed.

Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

Explore Barcelona and experience everything from dance, art, history, and even get a little beach time in. Image courtesy of Pixabay

Barcelona

Another must-see while in Spain is Barcelona. Although it’s one of the oldest, Barcelona is known as the most cosmopolitan, modern, and avant-garde city in Spain. It sits between the ocean and mountains — which means it has plenty to offer visitors.

Whether you choose to spend your days at the beach, exploring the local culture, or maybe even attending a soccer game, you’ll be in awe of the city. You could spend days immersing yourself in everything Barcelona has to offer.

From a lively party scene, breathtaking modern art and architecture, and beautiful beaches, Barcelona is the perfect stop for any honeymooners.

Granada

Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Granada boasts beautiful scenery and natural landscapes. Its location makes it a great option for couples looking for a more adventurous honeymoon that is full of outdoor activities.

But don’t worry, if you’re looking for a little less adventure there is plenty of history and architecture to explore in this city. It’s also just a short drive to the Mediterranean sea, so you can still spend time soaking in the sun.

The Spanish Islands

There are two groups of Spanish Islands that you can explore. The Balearics Islands in the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic. Each offers a number of different islands you can visit, all with their own personalities and experiences.

Here are just a few of the most popular Spanish Islands, and what they’re known best for:

  • Ibiza: electrifying nightlife and cuisine
  • Majorca: breathtaking beaches and resorts
  • Menorca: its rich history
  • La Gomera: great hiking trails
  • Lanzarote: spectacular volcanic landscapes

If your perfect honeymoon looks like endless beaches and exploring, you should definitely consider visiting the Spanish Islands.

Things to Do in Spain

While you’ll likely never run out of things to do in Spain, we’ve put together a list of things you can do throughout your tour of the country. Each city and location will provide you with a unique experience, but there are a few things that you’ll definitely want to checkout.

Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

The architecture throughout Spain is stunning. No matter where you plan to visit, there will be an opportunity to see these spectacular views. Image courtesy of Pixabay

Explore the Architecture

Nearly everywhere you visit in Spain, you’ll have an opportunity to marvel at the beautiful architecture. With strong influences from art and rich history, Spain is home to some of the most stunning architecture in Europe.

If you’re interested in exploring the architecture of the country, here are a few Spanish Architects you’ll want to see:

  • Santiago de Compostela Cathedral
  • Alhambra
  • La Sagrada Familia
  • Plaza de Espana
  • Guggenheim Museum

Depending on your itinerary you may not have the chance to see everything, but you’ll want to make sure to at least walk past these beautiful buildings.

Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

The Guggenheim Museum is so spectacular, it made our list twice. From its standout architecture to its impressive art collection inside, it’s a must-see item in Spain. Image courtesy of Pixabay

Visit Museums

Another thing that is plentiful in Spain is art. In fact, there are over 1,500 museums — meaning you’ll likely come across a few during your travels. Whether you’re an avid art lover or just interested in visiting these world-class museums, it’s a great opportunity.

While there are hundreds to pick from, here are a few can’t miss museums in Spain:

  • Museo del Prado
  • Guggenheim Museum
  • Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
  • Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia
  • Museo Picasso

No matter where you go, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the amazing art Spain has to offer.

Looking for an unforgettable honeymoon? Think Spain.

Don’t forget to spend time just simply taking in the culture and cuisine Spain has to offer. You’re going on the trip of a lifetime, make sure to take it all in. Image courtesy of Pixabay

Experience the Local Culture and Cuisine

No matter where you plan to visit, you can accomplish this one. And that is to simply take in the culture and cuisine Spain has to offer. Whether that means indulging in a plate of tapas, going to a bullfight, watching a flamenco show, or just strolling through the cities and shops — get out there and experience everything Spain has to offer.

So what are you waiting for? Get started planning your honeymoon to Spain today!

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

This is a guest post about ways to entertain guests at weddings. Author is Jasmin from Blush and Pose Photography, a wedding photographer from Manchester. All photos provided by Blush and Pose Photography.

When it comes to planning your wedding, your guests may expect a high level of entertainment. So how do you keep everyone entertained in between all the formalities that come on your wedding day. We’ve put together our top 10 ideas for consideration of ways to entertain guests at weddings.

HIRE A PHOTO BOOTH

There’s no doubt that a photo booth at your wedding will go down a hit. It’s the perfect opportunity to grab your friends and family and create some wonderful memories. They’re fun, popular and provide additional keepsakes for guests. In addition, the happy couple will usually receive a guest book filled with amazing photos and notes from all their guests to look back on. So what are you waiting for, book that photo booth, grab those crazy props and strike a pose.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

CASINO TABLE

Why not incorporate a fun casino night to your special day. Exchange your fun dollars for chips and play as you wish. Whether it be blackjack, roulette or poker, the choice is yours. Contrary to popular belief, a casino table is not real gambling, but rather playing for fun and for prizes. It’s also a brilliant idea for couples who love all things Vegas.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

HIRE A CARICATURIST

If you’re looking for a unique idea, then be sure to hire a caricaturist. This will raise the laughter amongst your guests and will help to break the ice. You’ll see everyone mingling with one another as they compare drawings. It’s another great alternative keepsake your guests can take home and perhaps even frame and put up on their wall. Setting up is easy, as they require minimal space and can take care of themselves. This is perfect for all venues, but in particular the smaller ones.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

LIVE MUSIC

Incorporating live music will set the tone and mood for your wedding day. It will unite your guests and create a memorable experience for all. From solo performers such as singers, cello or saxophone players or live group bands, this option will add a personal touch to your wedding. Live performers can really set the ambience in the room, while adding effortless sophistication to your day.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

MAGICIAN

Most people have witnessed magic tricks on television, but what about in real life at a wedding. Magicians at weddings engage with your guests and somehow draw them into their tricks. As your guests see the close up of a magic trick happen, their reactions can often be priceless, providing fabulous photo opportunities for your photographer.

CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN

Make sure your guests don’t go home hungry by including a chocolate fountain. Popular for all ages, the mouth watering flow of the chocolate will have all your guests flocking to it. Choose your favorite dippers to go with the chocolate. These could include fruit such as strawberries and banana, marshmallows, or mini donuts.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

WAFFLE/PANCAKE STAND

This is a simple sweet treat that can be cooked within minutes and then customised with your choice of toppings. Another great way to ensure your guests are kept entertained.

WEDDING SHOE GAME

Entertain your guests at your wedding by playing the wedding shoe game. To play, the bride and groom sit facing away from each other (this is usually in the middle of the dance floor) and take off their shoes. They trade one of their shoes with the other, so that they now have one of each. The MC, or organizer of the game will ask a series of questions about the couple’s relationship and to answer the question, they must hold up a shoe. If they feel the answer pertains to the groom, then they would hold the groom’s shoe up and vice versa. It’s a fun game to make your guests laugh about your relationship.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

OUTDOOR GAMES / LAWN CROQUET

Outdoor games always tend to be a winner at many weddings. Why not give your wedding reception a French touch by adding lawn croquet. It’s perfect for those summer months with stunning garden grounds. Croquet will have your guests mixing and mingling in no time. Other options for outdoor wedding games include beer pong, giant jenga or ring toss.

WAYS TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT WEDDINGS

FIREWORKS

If you really want to put on a show and entertain all your guests, then consider a fireworks display show. Having a sparkler send off is a nice alternative, while being simple and cost effective, however, a spectacular fireworks show is really taking it to the next level. These are popular to put on after your ceremony or when the night concludes. Ensure you obtain permission from the venue and have in place correct rules/guidelines from local authorities.

Album Story – Megan-Joshua Prospect House Wedding

After such a successful and fun engagement shoot with Megan and Josh I knew this was going to be an unforgettable wedding day and, sure enough, it was! The day itself was absolutely gorgeous! It had been raining intensely for a week, but the weather was perfect when their wedding day arrived at Prospect House!

At the risk of sounding cliche, I truly believe these two were made for each other and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to say it than that! The amount of love and affection I’ve witnessed between Megan and Josh as their wedding photographer is enough to move anyone’s heart. I’ll never forget the moments when they each read the beautifully crafted notes from each other as they sat alone and uninterrupted in their respective suites. There were so many wonderful emotions in those moments!

As I mentioned above, I was the lucky wedding photographer that got to shoot Megan and Josh’s engagement session, so I was already a big fan of theirs when their big day arrived. I’m not exaggerating when I say these two are a perfect example of the ideal bride and groom to work with! It’s not hard to tell from their photos that they LOVE to have fun and that’s exactly what they did throughout the entire wedding day. I was so happy to be a part of it and I didn’t want it to end, in fact, I don’t think anyone really did. During our short time together we had established such an awesome relationship and in the end after I had finished editing their photos, it was bittersweet to send off their gallery to them because I knew our amazing time together had come to an end!

I hope you enjoy looking through these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them and that you are able to experience even just a taste of how wonderful Megan and Josh’s special day was for everyone involved!

Album Story – Allison-William Arrowwood Wedding

This outdoor wedding had a relaxed look and feel combined with a mismatched earthy vibe and soft romantic undertones. The magic of this celebration started long before the “I dos” of this young couple in love. From the soft waves, loose braids and flower crown in the bride’s long hair to a free flowing off-white dress with floral lace, this bride took the breath away from her groom and guests as she entered the grassy ceremony space. The site itself was intimately set among 200+ year old trees and highlighted with a circular wedding arch decorated with seasonal florals. A reception was held under the covered pavilion just a few steps away so guests hung out in nature all afternoon and even danced under the stars on the outdoor dance floor. Farm tables were simply garnished with dusty blue chiffon table runners and a variety of glass vases with simple flower arrangements. The head table was trimmed with garland and votive candles. A 5-tier bridal cake was garnished with succulents and greenery, and stole attention from the groom’s alma mater themed cake.

Jess & Matt were married at The Cottage Farmhouse in Glencoe, MN on one of the hottest days of summer. Client Questionnaire

Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: We met in high school on an orchestra tour in New York City.  I knew that he was going to propose soon, but I didn’t know when exactly it would be. We had plans to see family one evening and he asked if we could stop by the lake spot (a special little nook on a lake near our hometown) and I agreed. I didn’t think anything of it. He totally surprised me though when he proposed there and family came out of the woods and driving down the street!

Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: I don’t know much about marriage yet but preparing for our marriage more than our wedding was something we prioritized and I’m really glad we did! Also, the morning of our wedding, we each wrote letters to our future kids (me to our daughters, Matt to our sons) for them to read on their wedding day. Album Story – Jules-Joe Laurita Winery Wedding

Jules and Joe’s woodsy wedding at Laurita Winery in New Egypt, NJ was twinkly and magical. Their rustic personality with a love of being outdoors, fit their Fall, October wedding at Laurita Winery perfectly. They wanted it to be a relaxed and fun day with their loved ones.

Sweet and beautiful Jules could not stop smiling all through her bride prep, she was excited and happy to be marrying the love of her life later that evening. Jules’ hair was in a high bun that just complemented her elegance and her veil was placed over her bun to complete the look. She looked absolutely stunning! Her bridesmaids wore deep red floor length dresses, each styled slightly different than the other. Their bouquets consisted of puffy white roses and deep red ranunculus, with silver dollar eucalyptus leaves. WOW, Jules’ bouquet really stood out with huge, deep red roses that were intertwined with red berries that complemented the fall season. Jules stepped into her Allure Bridals wedding gown from Cinderella Bridals and my goodness, she looked INCREDIBLE!

Wine barrels and twinkly lights were seen throughout the ceremony and reception. This worked well with their outdoor woodsy theme. Their 7 o’clock candlelit ceremony was held outside of Laurita Winery. It felt very serene and relaxed. On either side of the ceremony space were wine barrels that had large floral arrangements done by Narcissus Florals and candles on the ground and lining the aisle. The ceremony space looked beautiful!

Jules was ready to dance the night away and Joe was ready to mingle with his crowd, whereas equally they both were ready to dive into delicious food and have fun. Their reception space at Laurita Winery was beautifully lit with candlelight and string lights hung from the ceiling. The deep reds and woodsy feels were seen throughout the space. Jules and Joe went with orange uplighting that kept the seasonal feel to their theme. Their sweetheart table had two framed photographs of their beloved dogs, because they wanted their special pups to be a part of their big day too! How precious and sweet was that!!

The details in their reception space really fit their personalities and the style of their woodsy wedding. The wedding cake was brushed and designed to look like tree trunk details, while the groom’s cake was shaped like a cigar box!

TIME TO DANCE! Everyone hit the dance floor ready to dance the night away with the newly weds. Chris Marino of Limelight Entertainment rocked their wedding and played all of their favorites! Jules and Joe danced the night away with their family and friends. It was such a magical spectacular wedding.

Client Questionnaire

Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: Tinder-I know it’s not the most romantic answer but it’s true.  In this modern world it becomes very difficult to meet people organically.  Joe and I clicked from the first date and I knew we’d be a long term thing within the first week, I just didn’t realize we signed up for forever when I swiped right!

Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: Wedding planning: Don’t micromanage every detail! The people you hire are professionals and they know this is the biggest day of your life-they will do everything in their power to make it all wonderful.  And if someone offers to help you, take them up on it.  After your ceremony, take a few minutes of just you two to catch your breath and enjoy what you just committed to one another-the reception is going to fly by and you might not get to have that chance again until the next day.  Marriage advice: make sure you married your best friend, the laughs are worth it when life gets silly.
